Name & Program the Steel Pen
The Steel Pen needs to be named in Deggy Control and then programmed using the DLS. Programming links the name to the Pen's serial number and syncs the clock from your computer.
Step 1 — Connect the DLS First
1. Plug the DLS into your computer via USB cable.
2. Confirm the DLS icon appears in the bottom-right of Deggy Control with no X. An X means the DLS is not recognized.
Step 2 — Create a Name for the Pen
3. Click Registers → select Pens → click New.
4. Type a name for the Steel Pen (recommended: site name or guard shift name).
5. Optionally select a Site → click Save.
Step 3 — Program the Pen
6. In Registers > Pens, select the Pen name you just created.
7. Insert the Steel Pen into the DLS (snaps into place — hold it down).
8. Click Program on the right-hand side.
9. When the message "Programming OK" appears, click OK.
10. Remove the Pen from the DLS immediately — leaving it in will drain the battery.
Note: If you have multiple Steel Pens, repeat this process for each one. Each Pen needs its own name and must be programmed individually.
